Please refer to the installation instructions below to find out how to install your aluminium driveway gates directly to brickwork using wall-mounted hinges.
Before you begin your installation, we recommend you double-check the strength of the masonry to ensure it is capable of providing the correct level of support. If you are unsure, please consult a builder or use posts instead.
Installation Guide
Before commencing your installation, please check that the gates you have received correspond to those on your order. We also recommend that you double-check that the gap between the brickwork is 30-60mm wider than the physical width of the gates.
Place the lower hinge bracket against the wall in the desired location, mark the fixing points, and drill the holes using a suitable drill bit. When doing this, ensure you leave enough space for ground clearance.
Prepare the hinge bracket by assembling the spigot, as shown in the above illustration.
As shown in the diagram, take the bracket and attach it to the wall. Ensure the fixings are adequately secured and the correct type for the surface you are connecting.
Load the gate onto the bottom hinge bracket by slotting the spigot into the hole located in the underside of the handing stile.
Mount the spigot onto the top hinge bracket.
Slot the spigot into the top hinge hole, level the gate so it sits vertically and create a mark on the brickwork of the fixing holes' position.
Drill holes in the marked locations. Make sure you use the correct size drill bit and go to the appropriate depth.
Slot the spigot back into the top of the gate and fix the upper hinge bracket securely to the brickwork using appropriate bolts.
Repeat this process for the second gate. Make sure that the brackets/gate are level with each other, as any discrepancies will be apparent.
You can now adjust the upper hinges leaving a 10mm gap in the centre, as illustrated. This will allow for freedom of movement of the gate when they are opened and closed.
When you are satisfied with how the gates function, fit the weather covers over the hinges.
You have now finished your driveway gate installation.
