Ordering Sizes

• Width (Fits Opening): The sizes displayed in the drop-down menu at the top of the page refer to the actual size of the opening that the gates will fit. The width measurements already include the space necessary for the hinges and latch; therefore, you do not need to make any additional allowances for these items. In simple terms, if your current opening between brick pillars is 3048mm, you should order the gates to "fit opening" 3048mm.

• Physical Height: We have measured this from the underside of the gates to the highest point. You will need to ensure additional space is available to allow ground clearance.

Are Metal Posts Required?

When you need to use metal posts, you must remember that you need additional space for these items.

Example: Corfe double entrance gates that are manufactured to "fit an opening" of 3048mm combined with 2 x 100mm posts will take up 3248mm overall space.

Useful Information About the Corfe Metal Driveway Gates

Fittings: We include a fitting pack with the Corfe driveway gates, which contains the surface-mounted adjustable hinges, latch and drop bolt. We do not supply the fixings required to fasten the hinge brackets to brickwork or existing posts.

Posts: If no support structure is present, you must use metal posts of the appropriate size and design to install the gates. These must be set into the ground and be supported using concrete.

Installation: When fitting the hinge brackets, you should only attach them to an existing masonry structure if it can take the additional weight. You can find out more information about this by referring to the installation guide.

Width: You must understand that the ordering sizes refer to the opening into which the gates will fit. It does not relate to the physical width of the product. For more clarity, you should click here.

Painting: Corfe double metal gates are primed black with an undercoat which is not the final finish. You must paint all the surfaces with a minimum of 2 coats of rust-resistant paint before installation. If you would like to upgrade to a low maintenance finish, please contact us before ordering. We will be happy to provide you with the additional costs of the zinc plated (electro galvanised) and black powder-coated paint option.
