Royale Ascot Estate Gates in East Sussex

The owner of this detached property in Rye, East Sussex got in touch looking for heavy duty wrought iron style gates that would secure the entrance to their driveway as they wanted to add a higher level of security to their home due to them spending more time out of the country and wanted to keep it secure in their absence.

During our initial correspondence it was made clear that existing timber posts were already in place and these would need to be reused as the property owner did not want the hassle of digging up a block paved driveway surface. We were informed the size of the posts were 8” x 8” and were well set into the ground.

Following on from this the customer provided us with the width between the posts and the height of them allowing us to work out their size requirements allowing them to take advantage of our made to measure service. Once this was established, we were able to offer design options which included the Corfe, Royale Ascot and Royale Talisman.

After consideration on the part of the customer they selected the Royale Ascot Wrought Iron Style Estate Gates. In terms of the specification, they also opted for the heavy-duty mortise lock as this would allow the customer to easily secure the gates using a key which is more convenient than a simple padlock solution. On this occasion they also followed our recommendation for a zinc plated and black powder coated paint finish as this would remove the need for painting prior to installation.

Having explained that this gate design was a heavy-duty option made with flat bar solid steel 40mm x 30mm hanging stiles, 40mm x 20mm closing stiles, 40mm x 10mm horizontal rails and 16mm infill the customer was more than happy to go ahead and place an order.

As shown in the photograph below, once manufacturing had been completed and the gates were delivered the customer completed the installation on a DIY basis using the appropriate fixings for attaching the surface mounted hinges to the face of the timber posts.

Looking at the finished results we feel that these gates have an imposing appearance and have no doubt enhanced security which will give the homeowner peace of mind the property will remain safe during the times they are out of the county.
