Side Access Security Gate in Milton Keynes

Located in the outskirts of Milton Keynes, the owners of adjacent detached properties contacted us with a need to improve security to the side access passageway between their houses.

Client Brief

The customer initially came to us looking for assistance finding the best gate to suit their needs and after a short discussion about the possible options we were able to establish the following requirements that the gate would need to offer.

Having established the key requirements from the customer and having ascertained that the opening was not of a standard size our recommendation was to take advantage of our bespoke design and made to measure service. This way the customer could tailor one of our standard gate designs and modify it to suit them on an individual basis.

With this in mind our product recommendation was largely based on the Corfe side gate. The reason this was selected is down to the fact it is constructed with a metal box section framework  and mid-rails (25mm x 25mm) and 16mm solid steel infill bars that offer excellent levels of strength, rigidity and resistance to twisting. Furthermore, because it also features a sliding latch this means the gate is very easy to secure using a standard padlock and therefore will prove a great deterrent to criminals.

In terms of design, to keep things simple we also recommended that the standard double row of finials be removed. Lastly a low maintenance zinc plated (electro galvanised) and black powder coated paint finish was also recommended.

What we think about this project?

Although the finished gate design is rather plain in relation to many of our more ornate options we think it works perfectly as a side access security gate. Furthermore, because the gate can be padlocked it has given the 2 home owners the piece of mind they were looking for and therefore meets their brief perfectly.
