Available to buy online in a choice of sizes ranging from 8ft – 12ft, the Buxton gates are handcrafted in the UK and finished with fine attention to detail and include features such as mortise and tenon joints, horizontal and diagonal bracing, and a tongue and groove panel set flush with the frame.

Useful Information About the 4ft High Buxton Double Wooden Gates

Width Dimensions: The dimensions shown in the menu at the top of the page refer to the physical width of both gates when placed side by side. To avoid confusion this means that each pair is made up of the following:

• 8ft pair = 2 x 4ft

• 9ft pair = 2 x 4ft 6”

• 10ft pair = 2 x 5ft

• 11ft pair = 2 x 5ft 6”

• 12ft pair = 2 x 6ft

Height Dimensions: This measurement is taken from the underside of the gates to the highest point. When installing you will need to allow additional space for ground clearance. In most instances 50mm (2”) is sufficient however this may alter depending on site constraints and is down to the person fitting to decide how much space to allow.

Fittings: The gates are not supplied with the hinges, latch or drop bolt as standard. If you would like to add these items to your order, please choose the appropriate fitting pack from the options and accessories menu.

Posts: The use of wooden posts is recommended when installing the gates. Depending on the layout of the existing opening the use of wall mounted or in ground posts is acceptable. Please note that in both instances, the gap formed between the posts should be 40mm wider than the physical width of the gates you have ordered. This additional space is required to cater for the hinges and to allow for a small amount of movement of the timber throughout the year.

Finish: The Buxton design is made from smooth placed untreated Scandinavian Redwood. This means that to provide protection against rot and decay, all exposed timber surface should be stained or painted prior to installation.

Installation: For optimum level of support only hook and band type hinges should be used when installing the gates. The most practical means of attaching the hinges is to the top and bottom horizontal rails. For more information, please read the installation guide.
