Ordering Sizes
-
Width (Fits Opening): The measurements we display in the drop-down menu at the top of the page are the opening size required between existing brickwork or posts. We have already included the space needed for the hinges and latch within these dimensions. You do not need to make any additional allowances for these components. To avoid any confusion, this means that if your current opening is 3658mm, you should order the gates to "fit an opening" of 3658mm.
-
Height (once installed): This dimension is from ground level to the top horizontal rail. We have included an allowance of 50mm (2") for ground clearance within this measurement.
Are You Needing to Order Posts?
When you need to use metal posts, you must understand that you will require additional space for these items.
Example: The Royale Ascot gates that are manufactured to "fit an opening" of 3658mm combined with 2 x 150mm posts will need a total overall space of 3958mm.

Useful Information About the Royale Ascot Metal Driveway Gates
Fittings: Royale Ascot driveway gates are supplied with a comprehensive fitting pack containing adjustable hinges, latch, and an in-ground drop bolt. Please note that they do not include fixings to fasten the hinge brackets to brickwork or existing posts.
Posts: When no existing masonry structure is available, it will be necessary to use metal posts. They will need to be set into the ground and held in concrete.
Installation: Existing brickwork should be used for the hinges only when it can take the additional weight of the gates. Please refer to the installation guide for more information about the fitting process.
Width: The ordering sizes represent the actual size of the opening required. It does not relate to the physical width of the gates. If you are still doubtful what this means, please click here.
Painting: To prevent the rust and corrosion, you must paint all the exposed metal surfaces before installing them (applicable to primed gates). Alternatively, you can upgrade to our low maintenance zinc plated (electro galvanised) and black powder-coated paint finish for an additional charge.
