Handmade in the UK from carefully selected Scandinavian Redwood, the gate is constructed to exact standards for optimum strength, performance, and rigidity levels. It benefits from a 70mm thick mortise and tenon jointed framework, 3 x horizontal rails, 1 x diagonal bracing, a vertical boarded tongue and groove panel in the bottom portion for privacy and black primed metal bars within the open-top section for superior levels of aesthetic appeal.

Useful Information About the Bordeaux Wooden Gate

Fittings: If you would like to order the hinges and latch to go with this gate, please choose the appropriate size fitting pack from the options and accessories menu.

Posts: We recommend that wooden posts are used to install this gate. These can be purchased above using the drop-down menu. If you are wall mounting the post to existing masonry, suitable size fixings should be used (not included). Where the posts are to be set into the ground, they will need to be supported using concrete and should be dug to a depth of around 600-900mm depending on ground conditions. It is important to note that when setting your posts, the gap formed should be 20mm wider than the width of the gate. This will allow sufficient space for expansion of the timber and provide the required space for the hinges and latch to operate without the risk of binding.

Finish: The timber used to construct this gate is smooth planed Scandinavian Redwood. It is therefore essential that all exposed wooden surfaces are stained or painted prior to installation to prevent the onset of wood rot or decay.

Installation: The Bordeaux gate is a heavy-duty design and should only be installed using appropriately sized hook and band hinges. For the best level of support, the hinges should be mounted to the horizontal rails. For more information refer to our installation guide.
