Useful Information About the Carlton Open Boarded Square Top Wooden Gate

Fittings: Supplied without the hinges and latch as standard. If you wish to purchase a suitable fitting pack, please select from the options shown in the menu above.

Posts: We recommend wooden posts are used when installing the gate. Wall mounted posts should be securely fixed to existing masonry using appropriate bolts (not supplied). For freestanding installations, in ground posts should be set to a depth of around 600-900mm (to suit ground conditions). In either instance, the gap formed between the posts should be 20mm wider than the width of the gate ordered. This is to provide space for the hinges and latch and to allow for expansion of the timber.

Finish: The Carlton design is constructed from long lasting and low maintenance pressure treated timber which will have a temporary green tint to it. This will fade down over time therefore if you wish to stain on paint the wood, you will need to allow the timber to weather down to an appropriate colour before applying any finish.

Installation: For optimum levels of support, we recommend the use of hook and band hinges. They should be mounted to the top and bottom horizontal rails and secured in place using wood screws. For more information, please read the installation guide.
