The 3ft high Derbyshire Wooden Driveway Gates feature an eye-catching top rail which will create a bold statement to the entrance of any residential property. Handmade in the UK from slow-grown Scandinavian Redwood, they are finished with fine attention to detail; they are available to buy online in a selection of standard sizes from 7ft – 12ft making them ideal for most driveway applications. The Derbyshire double driveway gates feature a 70mm thick mortise and tenon jointed framework, 3 x horizontal rails and diagonal bracing on the back for rigidity and to make them capable of meeting the rigorous demands of regular use. The bottom section of each gate features tongue and groove panels, and the top has a curved rail and open pales for a striking appearance making them an excellent all-around design that will meet the needs of most property owners.

Useful Information About the Derbyshire Double Wooden Drive Gates

Width Dimensions: Wooden driveway gates are sold as a pair. The widths shown in the drop-down menu therefore refer to the physical width of both gates when placed side by side. For clarification purposes, each pair will be made up as follows:

• 7ft pair = 2 x 3ft 6”

• 8ft pair = 2 x 4ft

• 9ft pair = 2 x 4ft 6”

• 10ft pair = 2 x 5ft

• 11ft pair = 2 x 5ft 6”

• 12ft pair = 2 x 6ft  

Height Dimensions: The physical height is measured from the underside of the gates to the highest point. This measurement does not make any allowance for ground clearance.

Fittings: The Derbyshire wooden driveway gates do not include the hinges, latch, and drop bolt as standard. Should you need to order these items, please choose the appropriate fittings from the options and accessories menu above.

Posts: When installing the gates, we recommend using wooden posts. If these are not currently in place and you need to purchase these items, you can do so by selecting from the menu above. In ground posts are necessary for freestanding installations, however wall mounted posts are permitted when an existing wall or other support structure is present. To enable enough room for the hinges, latch, and to prevent the timbers from binding, the opening between the posts must be 40mm larger than the actual width of the gates.

Finish: The Derbyshire driveway gates are manufactured from slow grown Scandinavian Redwood and are not treated in any way to provide protection against rot and decay. It is therefore essential that all exposed surfaces are stained or painted prior to exposure to the elements.

Installation: To ensure the best level of support for the gates, we only recommend the use of hook and band hinges. These must be an appropriate size to provide adequate support. The band portion of the hinge should be mounted to the back of the gates along to the top and bottom horizontal rail and the hook portion should fit to the back of the timber post.
