Useful Information About the Derbyshire 4ft High Wooden Garden Gate

Fittings: The hinges and latch are not supplied as standard with the gate. If these are required, you will need to order the appropriate fitting pack from the menu shown above.

Posts: For best results, we recommend the Derbyshire 4ft high gate is installed using timber posts. If you choose to install wall mounted posts then appropriately sized bolts should be used (not supplied). For freestanding installations, posts should be set in the ground to a depth or 600mm - 900mm depending on ground conditions and supported with concrete. To ensure adequate space is available for expansion of the timber throughout the seasons, the gap formed between the posts should be 20mm wider than the width of the gate itself.

Finish: It is essential that the gate is stained or painted prior to installation to prevent rot or decay of the timber. We recommend a minimum of 2 coats are applied.

Installation: We only recommend the use of hook and band hinges with this product. For best results, they should be mounted to the horizontal rails so adequate support is provided. You can find out more information about how to install the gate here.
