Useful Information About the Dorset Ached 6ft High Wooden Gate

Fittings: The Dorset wooden side gate is not supplied with the fittings as standard. If you would like to order the hinges and latch, please select the relevant fitting pack from the menu above.

Posts: For ease of installation, we recommend the use of wooden posts (available to order in the options and accessories menu). Wall mounted posts will need to be fixed to exiting masonry using appropriate bolts (not included). Posts that are freestanding will need to be set into the ground using concrete and should be sunk to a depth or around 600-900mm depending on ground conditions. Please note that for either application, the gap formed between the posts will need to be 20mm wider than the physical width of the gate. This is to allow for expansion of the timber and to ensure sufficient space is available to install the hinges and latch.

Finish: The Dorset design is manufactured from untreated timber. Prior to installation it is essential that all surfaces are stained or painted to prevent the onset or rot or decay.

Installation: For optimum levels of support, we recommend the use of hook and band type hinges. These should be mounted to the horizontal rails and secured in place using appropriate screws (not included). For further guidance please refer to our installation guide.
