Useful Information About Kent Arched Wooden Gates

Width Dimensions: The width options shown in the menu above correspond to the total physical width of a pair of gates (when placed side by side). To avoid any confusion when placing your order this means that each pair comprises the following:

• 7ft pair = 2 x 3ft 6”

• 8ft pair = 2 x 4ft

• 9ft pair = 2 x 4ft 6”

• 10ft pair = 2 x 5ft

• 11ft pair = 2 x 5ft 6”

• 12ft pair = 2 x 6ft

Height Dimension: The height “in the centre” measurement is taken from the underside of the gates to the highest point in the middle. The “height at the sides” is measured from the underside of the gates to the highest point at the side of the gates. When installing, you will need to factor in additional space for ground clearance, so it is essential you check additional space is available prior to making your purchase.

Fittings: We have a choice of fitting packs available to purchase online that contains the necessary hinges, latch and drop bolt. If required, please choose the appropriate option from the menu above.

Posts: The use of in ground or wall mounted post are recommended when installing wooden gates. In both instances, the gap formed between the posts should be 40mm wider than the physical width of the gates you have ordered as this will provide the optimal spacing for the hinges.

Finish: The Kent design is handmade in the UK from smooth planed Scandinavian softwood. This timber has not been treated in any way to provide protection against rot and decay therefore it is essential that all exposed surfaces are stained or painted prior to installation.

Installation: We only recommend using hook and band hinges when installing the Kent wooden estate gates. They should be of the appropriate size to take the weight of each leaf. For more information about hinges please refer to the general installation guide.
