Useful Information About the Hampton 1.8m High Wooden Gates

Width Dimensions: When selecting the size you need to order, please be aware that the size in the drop-down menu refers to the total width of both gates (when placed side by side). For clarity, each pair comprises the following:

• 2400mm pair = 2 x 1200mm

• 2700mm pair = 2 x 1350mm

• 3000mm pair = 2 x 1500mm

• 3300mm pair = 2 x 1650mm

• 3600mm pair = 2 x 1800mm

Height Dimension: Measured from the underside of the gates to the highest point (in the middle and the sides). When you fit the gates, you will require additional space for ground clearance.

Fittings: If you need to add a fitting pack (containing the hinges, latch, and drop-bolt) to your order, please choose the appropriate option from the menu at the top of the page.

Posts: We advise using wooden posts to fit the gates. Wall-mounted posts are a suitable option if you fit between walls or brickwork. For freestanding applications, you will need to make use of in-ground posts. In each case, the gap created should be 40mm wider than the width of the gates you order. This additional space will ensure adequate room for the hinges and latch.

Finish: The timber used to construct the Drayton shaped wooden estate gates are smooth planed pressure treated softwood. This low maintenance finish eliminates the requirement to paint or stain the gates before installation. Please be aware that this process will cause the timber to have a green tint; however, this will weather down over time to a more natural appearance.

Installation: We only recommend using hook and band hinges when installing the gates. You should only fix the hinges to the horizontal rails for optimum support. For more information, read the installation guide.
